What is this website?

GameDevIcons.com is a comprehensive collection of vibrant, cartoon-style icons tailored for game developers. Created by RhosGFX (that's me!), it offers hundreds of icons with variants of multiple different colours, so that you can ensure that your UI is unique to your game. These icons have already proven popular on itch.io, with thousands of downloads to date.

Why would I use this website, instead of just buying the icon packs on rhosgfx.itch.io?

Lots of reasons! Here's the big 3:

1. Loads more variants: Colours are adjusted programmatically, which means there's effectively thousands more icons than it would ever be possible for me to design.
2. Easier to search: Instead of digging through layers of folders, you'll be able to quickly find the icons you need with an intuitive search function.
3. No need to redownload updates: Just come back here and access the latest icons directly on the site!

Is there any reason for me to buy the icon packs on rhosgfx.itch.io, now that this site exists?

For sure! Again, here's the big 3:

1. Buy once, own forever: By owning an icon pack from rhosgfx.itch.io, you'll own that pack forever - and all updates are free!
2. Black and white variants: While they may eventually come to GameDevIcons.com, there's currently no plans to include the flat black and white variants. For now, itch.io is the only place you can get them.
3. Individually curated icons: Colouring the icons through code allows for many more variants, but the icons on rhosgfx.itch.io are individually designed to make sure they look as good as they possibly can.

When will GameDevIcons.com launch?

It's still very much early days, so there's no set launch date as of yet. The best thing you can do to encourage development is to join the mailing list - that's how I'm gauging interest to see if the idea is viable. The more people sign up, the better I can guarantee that I can continue to build the site. Tell your friends!

How much will it cost?

I still need to do some market research on this, but certainly under $10.

Where can I get updates about the website?

For all the important stuff, the best way to get updates is through the GameDevIcons mailing list. I can't stand email spam, so rest assured that I really will only be sending you things that are worth sharing - and of course, I'll never share your information with anyone else.

Otherwise, the best place to go is my Twitter account. You'll get some sneak peeks of future icon pack updates, the odd sale, and, of course, a whole load more updates about GameDevIcons.com.
